Terms of Service

What this service does

Standing Tee keeps score for a private golf league. It records who played, what they shot, and — where a league plays for stakes — works out who owes what to whom at the end of a round or a season. It is a scorekeeper and a calculator. That is the whole of it.

Money

Standing Tee never holds, transmits or escrows money. It calculates the amounts; you settle them between yourselves, exactly as you would without it.

The settlement figures are worked out from the scores your league entered, under the game and stake settings your league chose. They are a record of a friendly game, not a determination of a debt: we are not a party to any arrangement between you and the people you play with, we do not adjudicate it, and we cannot enforce it. If a figure looks wrong to you, it is your league’s administrator who decides whether it is corrected. Standing Tee support can make a correction for them, or repair data after a fault.

Whether your league plays for money at all, and on what terms, is your league’s business and your own responsibility under the law where you play.

Who may use it

You must be 18 or older to hold a Standing Tee account. This is an adults’ product — leagues here keep track of money between players — and that is how it is described to the app stores.

Records about other people have their own limits, and this is the part most easily overlooked, because the person it protects is not the person using the app. A league administrator can add a golfer to a roster — a name, a handicap identifier, scores — without that person ever opening Standing Tee. So:

Nothing here checks anyone’s age, and we would rather say that than imply a control that does not exist. If you tell us that an account or a roster record breaks either of these, we will remove it. Write to support@standingtee.com.

Using it properly

You are responsible for what you put into Standing Tee, including what you enter about other golfers — their names, their handicap identifiers, their scores, and anything an administrator types into a note. Enter what those people would expect you to, keep it accurate, and correct it when they ask.

Do not use Standing Tee to break the law, to impersonate somebody, to gain access to a league you are not part of, or to interfere with the service or the machines it runs on.

What we do not promise

Standing Tee is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express, implied or statutory, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, security, accuracy and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements, that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that the scores or figures it shows are accurate or correct, or that any defect will be fixed. This is a small service run by one person on one server; treat it accordingly, and keep your own record of anything that matters to you.

Limits on what we owe you

You understand and agree that we will not be liable to you or to anyone else for any loss of profits, goodwill or data, or for any incidental, indirect, special, consequential or exemplary damages, however arising, resulting from your use of or inability to use the service; from any change to, suspension of, or discontinuation of it; from unauthorised access to or alteration of your data; from anything another user does or says; or from any other matter relating to the service.

These limits apply whether or not we have been told such damage might occur, and even if a remedy set out here is found to have failed of its essential purpose. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by something outside our reasonable control.

Disagreements between players

If you have a dispute with one or more people you play with — about a score, about what was owed, about whether it was paid — that is between you and them. You agree to release us from any claim or demand of any kind arising out of or connected with such a dispute. We will not arbitrate it, and the figures in the app are not evidence that we have.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When we do, the date at the foot of this page changes with them, and the current version is always the one published here. We will not email you about it. We post changes on this page. Continuing to use Standing Tee after a change means accepting it. We may also change or discontinue the service itself.

Ending it

You can stop using Standing Tee at any time, and you can delete your account — see deleting your account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. The limits above survive the end of this agreement.

Governing law

Except where the law where you live provides otherwise, this agreement and any use of Standing Tee are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio and the federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Standing Tee is offered in the United States and is not directed to people elsewhere.

The rest

If any part of this agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, that part is read to reflect what was intended and the remainder stays in force. Our not enforcing something is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later. We may transfer this agreement to another person or entity — most likely if the service is later run by a company rather than an individual — and you may not transfer yours without our written consent.

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the complete agreement between you and us about Standing Tee, and replace anything said before. If you installed Standing Tee from an app store, that store’s own standard licence terms apply to the app itself; we do not impose a separate one of our own.
